Technical

What is Ichimoku TK Cross (Bull / Bear)?

The Tenkan line (9-period midpoint) crossing the Kijun line (26-period midpoint) β€” the Ichimoku system's primary momentum trigger, built from range midpoints rather than closes.

Formula

Tenkan = (9-period High + 9-period Low) Γ· 2; Kijun = (26-period High + 26-period Low) Γ· 2; signal = their cross

How to Interpret

A bullish TK cross above the Ichimoku cloud is the textbook strong signal; the same cross below the cloud is treated as weak or counter-trend β€” traders grade the cross by where it happens relative to the cloud. Midpoint construction makes it steadier but laggier than EMA crosses.

Typical Ranges

One component of a five-part system β€” TK crosses in isolation lose the context (cloud position, Chikou confirmation) Ichimoku was designed around.
