A session whose entire range fits within the previous day's high and low β contraction and indecision, the market pausing mid-sentence.
Formula
Inside Day: today's High < Prior High AND today's Low > Prior Low
How to Interpret
Primarily a setup pattern: the break of the MOTHER BAR's range (the prior day's high/low) is traded as the signal, with the inside day marking the coil. Multiple consecutive inside days deepen the compression.
Typical Ranges
Extremely common β most inside days resolve unremarkably. Meaningful mainly after large directional moves or at key levels, not in routine drift.
