Technical
What is MFI (Money Flow Index)?
RSI rebuilt with volume: a 0–100 oscillator comparing volume-weighted up-days against down-days over 14 periods — momentum with conviction attached.
Formula
MFI = 100 − (100 ÷ (1 + Money Flow Ratio)), where the ratio uses volume-weighted typical prices over 14 periods
How to Interpret
The same overbought/oversold question as RSI, but a move on heavy volume counts more than the same move on air. MFI diverging from RSI itself is informative — price momentum without volume support, or vice versa.
Typical Ranges
Above 80 overbought, below 20 oversold (slightly wider than RSI's bands). Volume data quality varies by asset class — crypto exchange volume especially. Otherwise inherits every RSI caveat, including trend-pinning.
