Technical
What is Moving Average Ribbon (Bullish / Bearish)?
A stack of several moving averages of increasing length read together β 'bullish' when layered in perfect ascending order (shortest on top), 'bearish' when fully inverted.
Formula
Bullish: SMA(short) > SMA(medium) > SMA(long) in strict order; Bearish: fully inverted
How to Interpret
A fully ordered ribbon means the short-, medium- and long-term trends all agree β the strongest trend confirmation moving averages can give. Widening spacing indicates acceleration; compression warns of a potential turn. Partial ordering means a transition is in progress.
Typical Ranges
Full alignment happens well after a trend is underway β ribbon signals are rare by design, with long silent stretches between them.
