Cardano was founded by Ethereum co-founder Charles Hoskinson and launched in September 2017. Development is led by IOHK (Input Output Global) and the Cardano Foundation, and has rolled out in named eras (Byron, Shelley, Goguen, Basho, Voltaire) corresponding to major capability upgrades.
