What is Tether USDt?

History

Origin & evolution

Originally launched in 2014 as "Realcoin" on the Bitcoin blockchain via the Omni Layer protocol, it was renamed Tether shortly thereafter. USDT is operated by Tether Limited, a Hong Kong-based company affiliated with the Bitfinex exchange.
